UE4 Tutorial - RTS Style Camera Movement With Edge Scrolling

So the other day I have an idea of how to do edge scrolling for an RTS style camera movement to work. After about 3 hours I had successfully got it all fully functional and working. So today I present to you a tutorial on how to do the same thing. Of course this is the way I've chosen to do it and there maybe others.

Enjoy. :)

  1. Hi! Nice tutorial! I was just wondering, did you start this from a blank project or one of the templates? Thanks!

  2. I started it from a blank blueprint project.

  3. Hi, i have been following your tutorial and i can only manage to get all of the right side to show up and all of the bottom to show up plus the smaller box in the top left, but not the middle for the top and left, i was wondering if you would know why and where i can fix this, i have followed every step and made sure everything is attached and bools are ticked or not but it will still not show, if you could message back as soon as possible that would be great, thanks

  5. I would double check the "Get8LocationsForEdges" macro on page 8. The "TopMiddle" and "MiddleLeft" come from the same "2DVectorModifyIndividual". It's most likely something to do with that.

  6. Firstly, thank you very much for this tutorial!

Despite how well it's explained and beautifully presented my friend and I have now tried to replicate this several times each over the last few days (up to the end of page 5). We are both very new to Unreal and have tried to follow it to the letter but had no luck getting it to work as intended.

We were wondering if you would be happy to release your project as a download so that we can dissect it and work out where we're going wrong. You would be our favorite person in the world and we would be forever in your debt :)

Thanks again for trying to teach us!
